Statement
From working with 3d materials, I have a history with creation and substance. With a range of media, my work focuses on the folds of paper, the textures of clay, and my relationship with the history of these materials.

I find that both my paper forms and my ceramic work follow a traditional Japanese aesthetic. I’m heavily influenced by both my half Japanese heritage, as well as my Irish- American heritage, which is often a reason and reminder for me to see my art critically, and not tie myself to one cultures tradition.

I find a large inspiration for my work in Buddhist thought, and the meditation that craftwork instills on craftworkers. I approach art with a sense of mindful-lessness; a conscious effort to think but not overthink, and allow my faceless work to still convey feeling and emotion.
